Re: Netflix coming to Linux!!! via Chrome
Well, now that time has passed.... I can get the chrome plugin for netflix in linux.... but It's just a link to the site. Pressing "Play" we are welcomed with a nice screen proclaiming that it only works with mac windows and chrome books. I really don't think we are ever going to see netflix on regu...

Re: Episode 29 - HDHomerun Prime
Finally, something from tight-lipped timewarner. I recently requested a new channel line-up card from Time Warner. After reviewing it I noticed a foot note next to several channels (I say several but it's practically all channels) The foot note represented "Not Available with Cable Card" At least th...

Re: Netflix coming to Linux!!! via Chrome
High hopes but still doubting this will happen. Yeah, I know it's a "done" deal but how many times have linux users been burned with promises?

Re: Episode 29 - HDHomerun Prime
Guys, is it not some fed regulation that they have to provide the cards for a fee if requested by a customer who os willing to pay a subscription.
Or am I confusing this with the firewire port rule?

Re: 12 TB Array... No, that's not cool... PALIMPSEST IS!
Just an update. After the reshaping for two and a half days, took the array down and quickly resized the partition with resize2fs. Up and running with double my previous storage capacity and did not have to reinstall, reconfigure, or loose any of the recordings and videos. Total down time: Not sure....

Arch for the family box. Crunch Bang for the netbook. Ubuntu for the myth boxes.

Re: What do you use to rip and/or encode DVD's?
Linux version of MakeMKV. No re-encodes just yet but probably will use handbrake. I can archive my blue-ray and DVD disks and they play back perfectly on Mythtv. Functioning bonuses under the myth interface including chapter search, languages, and subtitles. I'll probably pay to register after the 3...

Re: Episode 29 - HDHomerun Prime
Great episode. Enjoyed hearing the about SiliconDust and possible new gadgets from them. Time warner here, so I probably won't get one but I'll be interested if anyone gets one on a TW system to see if anything works other than locals. I was pleasantly surprised by the bagpipe music. The kids and I ...

12 TB Array... No, that's not cool... PALIMPSEST IS!
Now is this sweet or what? I already had a 6 TB raid 5 box attached to my Mythtv backend. It's one of those cheapie mini towers that has two esata ports connecting to a special interface card stuck in your computer. Yeah, I know... software raid but it worked perfectly, is cheap and has 8 bays. For ...

Re: MakeMKV?
Pat, its the same price as the other versions and unfortunately priced at fifty bucks. However considering how perfectly it works, I feel it is justified. And yes, it just works perfectly. There is no PPA for Ubuntu 10.10 that I could find however the commands to compile it are super simple. In esse...

MakeMKV?
Has anyone used makemkv for archiving blue-ray and dvd's to an MKV container? What have been your experiences? I've tried it out and think it works well. The resulting files play perfectly with MythTV on all my front ends and a popcorn hour thin client. I'm considering paying for it when the trial i...

Cool. For a moment there, I thought I was the only one besides my wife that even tolerated it.
