JFS Issue with CloneZilla

Post by kwisher » Mon Nov 19, 2012 2:27 pm

Hello All,

Thought I would pass on something I found out this last weekend. I had a failing 750GB drive in my master backend so I ordered a new 1TB from NewEgg for $50. The failing drive had 4 partitions, 10gb ext4 /, 2gb swap, 5gb ext4 /home, and the remainder was formatted JFS for recordings. Attached the new drive via a SATA cable directly to the MB for the fastest clone. Booted into Clonezilla live disk. Started the disk-disk clone option and all was going along fine until it got to the 4th JFS partition and it bombed. Come to find out, Clonezilla does not support JFS. Ended up just creating the last partition on the new disk as ext4 from a live disk to do a straight copy of all my recordings. In the end the system booted just fine from the partitions that Clonezilla was able to copy but took a little more time than I expected. I am no longer going to use JFS for any partitions.
