Looking for Simple Server Setup
I have done some searching, but I have come up empty, so I thought I would ask the community. I would like to setup a simple server for work which would behind a firewall. I have used Freenas in the past, and have looked at Amahi Home Server which looks like it would fit the bill, but they are curre...

Re: So Many Tablets But Which One?
Pat,
What do you think about the Archos 70 vs. the Archos 101? What made you choose one over the other?

So Many Tablets But Which One?
I don't have a smart phone, and probably won't because of the cost of the monthly data plans and it is rare to not be near my home phone or work phone (currently get by with just a Tracfone for when I need a cell phone). This would be my only Android device. I really enjoyed reading Pat's series on ...

Re: Hulu Front End for Standard Def TV
Thanks Pat, I have the converter box for the SDTV, I have the computer. Now I just need to run the network cable to the TV area, and I need to do an install of something so I can watch Hulu. Any thoughts as to whether I should do a mythtv install or just a standard Fedora install and then install th...

Hulu Front End for Standard Def TV
I'm wondering what to set up. I want to hook my computer up to a Standard Def TV to watch programs off of Hulu, but I would like to present a user interface that is simple and easy to navigate on a Standard Def TV. In the past I have hooked up GeeXBoX which worked great with a standard Def TV, but I...

Re: Sound Issues
I have no idea what would improve your sound quality, for that reason I have never complained about it. I usually don't catch the live show, but the recorded show for the most part is pretty good most weeks. Personally, I can understand that when a guest is calling in from overseas, that the sound q...

Best Password Keeper Program?
Hey everyone, I would love opinions. I would like to be better organized and more secure too. I'm just wondering what folks use to keep track of all their passwords. I have heard several different ideas: 1. Have 5 really supper secure passwords that you rotate in using for different things, and that...

Re: Dumb suggestion
Before condemning a router as being bad please get a cable checker and make sure all cables are good. On bad cable can make a whole network look bad. Actually had this situation recently. I thought that my wireless router was bad, after all it had seen its better days, and had been in service for 4...

Re: todo list manager
Dann's recommendation is a good one, but I have checked out a few command line todo managers, and I really like yokadi. Strange name, but as a program is works well, has a nice display and feature set. I believe it would even bridge the gap a bit between Project Management Software and a ToDo list o...

Re: The less than $50 Zipit Z2 hacked to run Fluxbox
I'm gonna check my local Targets tomorrow to see if I can pick one up for $25 clearance like others have. Well, checked both of the Target stores in the area here, yesterday, and no ZipIt Z2. They also claim in the electronics department that they have never sold them before. This is the perfect fo...

Re: The less than $50 Zipit Z2 hacked to run Fluxbox
Anyone know a little more about this devise. I'm wondering if there are some hacking that could be done even without flashing the unit. 1. For example does anyone know if it will IM right out of the box? The website seems to indicate that you need to have a service plan for a year, and then IM is fr...

Wiki With Nice Printing Options
I'm hoping the community can help me out. I'm looking for a wiki or perhaps even blog software that can help me replace my current editing habits. In my job I produce a lot of documents. Currently, I use OpenOffice to make all of the pretty documents that I need to print out. I use vim to write ever...

Re: eeepc 900 for $169
I have the Eee PC 901 and it took me a couple of days to adjust to the small keyboard, but you get used to it. I have rather small hands, so it's not too bad for me. However, if you have sausage fingers, good luck with that. I just worked on an Acer Aspire One 8.9" model and the keyboard is a littl...

Re: eeepc 900 for $169
Do you have one Greggh?
What do you think of the keyboard?
I've seen a 900 series in the store, and it did seem rather cramped compared to the Dell Mininote.
However, that is a great price for 1 gig of ram in it too.

Re: eeepc 900 for $169
O, forget it, I'm a day late and a dollar short.
I would still be interested in hearing what people think of the 900 series keyboard, because those are the ones that are going the cheapest these days with Linux.
