Re: Fedora 8

I had to get creative. Fedora 8 would hang on my laptop at install time and so I could not get it installed. so I followed the steps below and it worked like a champ. I also did this on another upgrade like core 3 to core 4 or something and it worked fine. It is nice to have this info in a pinch lik...

That may be good for virtualization on workstation level, but is it usable, feasible and scalable for a really large enterprise server environment? I seriously doubt it. Also, you mention that Xen is hard to set up, have you tried using either Red Hat or Novell's management tools made specifically ...

bill shouldn't of dropped out of harvard

here is a great analysis of just one little part of microsoft's so-called 6000 page ECMA oooxml standard and their possible adoption by ISO. just from this little fact the standard should be thrown out with the trash. again they are making a joke of the industry by submitting a mathematical inaccura...

Re: The More Dell Lies, the More Ubuntu Community Embraces D

http://www.devside.net/blog/dell-ubuntu-lies Having priced similar Dell Ubuntu and Vista systems in the past, at a real difference of a whooping 10 dollars, I was curious to check in again and see if Dell has implemented anything the user-base of IdeaStorm have asked for. One particular thread caug...

my favorite line

"Still, Dell is successfully targeting a key market niche: Frustrated users who want a viable, fast, secure alternative to Windows. And Ubuntu -- like Apple's (AAPL) Mac OS -- is a welcome option worth considering." looks like I just saw that little light bulb go on in his/her head. hope the snowbal...

I have trouble before but never like this - no matter...

yes qemu is excellent too - forgot to mention that one - now I did use windows on qemu 3 to 4 years back - it was windows 2000 and windows 95/98 to run some old educational games for my daughter. they were pre-school and kindergarten games so they weren't needing really high power. but qemu was pret...

centos and xen

not sure what you are going to be using it for but I am currently running web sites on centos5 and xen with vm of centos 5 and it is really stable and pretty slick. it was the same xen setup that was on fedora core 6. running web servers I think this is the way to go also playing with ubuntu and vmw...

Microsoft is obviously lying. I'm a FOSS user and I have not infringed on any software patents... EVER! In fact, in Canada, you cannot patent software. So, Brad and his boss Bill Gates can royally f*ck right off, as far as I'm concerned! :P well said! we all can't forget the emoticons patent - alon...

good article

http://www.crn.com/software/199500294 good article from Szulik from Redhat. nice to see a CEO these days not be from marketing. two quotes I think are great. In a press conference at the Red Hat Summit in San Diego, Red Hat CEO Matt Szulik said customers have been asking for better interoperability ...
