Run Bashpodder from a USB drive?
Does anyone know if it is possible to run Bashpodder from an external USB hard drive or thumb drive? I've tried but it just doesn't work. It either does nothing or I get a permissions error. Using chmod hasn't helped at all. Is it possible to get it to work? Because I use multiple computers I think ...

Re: answer to gnome3 / unity woes
After installing 12.04 on my Macbook Air, I decided I would try Unity again for a period of 48 hours just to see if it has improved from the last time I tried it (11.04 I think). To my surprise, I am actually liking it. It looks nice and is responsive. I think I'll keep trying it out longer. I may n...

If you prefer a more conventional desktop and neither Xfce, LXDE, or KDE meet your needs, check out MATE Desktop Environment or Cinnamon. http://mate-desktop.org http://cinnamon.linuxmint.com MATE and Cinnamon are both excellent. I am running MATE on Linux Mint 13 and loving it. I installed it from...

I've been wondering the same thing myself. The forum just seems dead lately. Hopefully the activity level will pick up before too long.

Re: Ebook readers
Got the Nook Color for Christmas. So far, I love it. As far as the features I was looking for this one matches all of them with the exception of an e-ink display. It supports a wide variety of formats and my digital copies of Linux Journal look great on it. I can read non-DRM epub books on it with n...

Re: Turd of the Week submissions
I disagree with the nomination of Oracle as Turd of the Week. They deserve to be named Turd of the Year.

Re: Ebook readers
I think I am going to go with the the Nook Color. It has a lot of the features I am looking for. Unfortunately it does not have an e-ink display since it is color. But it is Android based, which is a plus. Being able to read my digital magazine subscriptions in color will be nice. I'll have to wait ...

Re: Chrome/Chromium
I am a firm believer in using the right tool for the job. If Firefox is what works best for you, then you should use Firefox. I tried Chrome as well and liked it's speed. But after a while I went back to Firefox. Firefox has extensions that I like (i.e. GSpace, DownThemAll, Flash Video Replacer, and...

Re: Ebook readers
I bought the Nook for a few reasons. It has E-Ink, the battery lasts for a long time,Nook has a replaceable battery easily accessible by opening the back cover (unlike the Kindle). You can go from page one to page 500 with ease, You can change the font and make the characters larger for easier read...

Re: Ebook readers
Unless you are going to crack the drm, ebooks purchased on the Kindle or Nook are only going to run on the Kindle and Nook respectively (or their software equivalents on smartphones and tablets). That's what I figured. I think I'm probably going to go with the Sony Reader Touch. That one looks like...

Did you get the Fuze or the Fuze+? I have last year's model of the Fuze and the show played fine. Video4Fuze is great, it's one of my must-have programs.

Re: Ebook readers
Dann reviewed the Neuros tablet on the show. According to the review, it is slow. The reason I want a dedicated ebook reader is because the e-ink is easier on the eyes and more visible in direct light. I'm just not sold on tablets yet. Nothing has come out that has that "got to have it" factor for m...

Ebook readers
The discussion on ebook readers on this week's show got me to looking at the different options available. I think it was Linc saying that he didn't want to be tied to just one service such as Amazon or Barnes & Noble. I feel the same way about that. After looking at the different offerings, I think ...

Never noticed, since I usually just pull all of my favorite shows down with Bashpodder. I have the speex feed added to my bp.conf file now.dann wrote:Yeah, speex has been offered for a bit now it was just never on the main site. There is a feed for it too.

Re: Whoa..
Love the redesign of the site. Also like that speex is now being offered. I haven't listened to episode 366 yet, but it is on my list of things to do today. Great job on the site and looking forward to "season 2".
