hobbies

I consider family time as a hobby as well, and that covers a wide range of activities including the kids' hobbies like ballet and tae kwon do. I used to get more involved in the kids' hobbies by taking tae kwon do myself and being a cubmaster, but not lately. Sometimes, work around the house becomes...

Warren Woodford show

I know I am late, but I just got around to listening to it (I have a backlog of podcasts)... Show 187 with Warren Woodford was absolutely fantastic! I had never heard him or read interviews with him or really even heard much about him. I really grooved on his topics, positions, and stories. I suppos...

You seem to have been hitting upon a bug in Kino's trim that I recently fixed. You should be able to avoid that bug by using a different way to set your in and outpoints. For example, use i and o on the keyboard.

In Kino, you are looking for split and join (edit menu or icons). trim lets you adjust things, but you could also try the insert mode in the trim window.

heh, I like the jazz analogy! And why do you call it "stupid" just because you do not prefer it? I say live and let live. I fall into the Arch camp on some of my systems because I am willing to put up with some of the issues given some of the benefits (perceived or not). Like anything; there are tra...

There is a fair amount of commercially successful software products on Linux, just not much in the consumer software space. I think "Open Source software company" is very much an oxymoron. Ximian was an exception--at least until Novell is dead--as well as any other with a similar exit strategy (acqu...

tee hee

I like to post here with naughty words just to see what the censor filter does  In the subject line of my previous message, the "jingle and jangle around" replaces an F-bomb.

fuck FM

FM transmitters are really aweful. You can get an auxillary input for most factory car stereos and for a lot of aftermarket ones too. They cost around $60... so I recently bought a decent Sony head unit for $100 that comes with an auxillary input on the front. Consider your options.

Kino DVD export options

Chess, when you have dvdauthor installed you should see the option to create a DVD-Video Directory in Export/DV Pipe/.... Make sure to select that. Next version (already in CVS) has even better DVD authoring integration from the Export/MPEG screen. See my post at http://www.dennedy.org/ for more info.

darn it!

The phpBB censor is at it again. It changed my S.H.I.T. to "shat" - I'm sorry, but my message just does not have the same effect at humor when you have to see through what appears to be a typo!!

as a former Notes developer

I used to do a lot of Notes development in Cincinnati and made quite a living at it in the gay-ol-90s. I even got duly certified and attended Lotusphere conventions. It was way ahead of its time, and I hear Bill Gates referred to it as the app that wants to be an OS. After giving it up, I now tell p...
