64bit isn't just about a larger address space, it also means you can operate on data in 8-byte chunks rather than 4-byte chunks.

Problem with episode 194? [Resolved]

Is there a problem with the .mp3 recording of show 194?

I put the file on my iPod and from 6:39 there is silence for the rest of the show?

Is it the recording or is it me?

Thanks

[EDIT]

Ok, just seems to be the MP3 recording, OGG is fine.

I'm with Linc on this.

Computers are one of (if not the most) complicated machines invented by humans and yet when it comes to using a computer, people are just too damn lazy to learn anything. The problem with usability is that you can't please all the people all of the time. Which ever demographic you aim for will alway...

Gish on Gentoo

Anybody had any luck with this? I decided to try it after listening to one of the episodes but I get the following error:

Code: Select all

./gish: relocation error: /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0: symbol errno, version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference
Any ideas?

How about Alan Cox?

He was a really good interviewee last time I heard him.

Could be interesting to see what he's up to.

In the case of nVidia, I believe their reason for not open sourcing the drivers is that there is code in the driver which is not their IP. The thing that I think is a real shame is, when I bought my Amiga it came with a manual which contained the entire circuit schematic for the machine. The same wh...

I agree for the sake of a bit of eye candy there isn't much to get excited about.

The point of all this is off-loading processing to the GPU. How does your processor usage look when your windows are wobbling? :-)

Replacement for aRTs (not software)

I always hear complains about aRTs, on TLLTS, being a crap solution for multiple audio streams. Well for a sure fire solution to the problem that aRTs tries so solve, why not just get a sound card with hardware mixing? I use a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 and it works great and only cost me £10 (approx $1...
