I've spoken with Placid (An in-game moderator and member of the EL Linux Community guild) and he said that he would prolly be okay with doing an interview with you good folks about the state of linux gaming :)

Would this be somthing worth trying to setup?

I might suggest Damn Small Linux if system resources are a big issue. If its like a +300mhz machine I might suggest Mandrake. I run it on my personal workstation and my samba server foot rest :)

I thought it did use OpenGL? On linux it requires glx enabled in your xorg.conf.

For audio there's flac and for video there's XviD.

I'm not sure about flash. Can you animate SVG? If so that would prolly be the best alternative :)
