Got myself a GP2X

I had been using an old Pocket PC for a media player until it fell and the screen got smashed. I had been interested in the GP2X since it has come out. Mostly because it's linux based and also I like that it uses standard batteries since I sometimes take 10-14 hour plane flights. I was most interest...

Troels did a nice job speaking about XGL/AIGLX. Maybe he can come back on the show and talk about Compiz and Beryl as well.

I started this thread over a month and a half ago. I finally got my webcams. Hearing all the difficulties installing webcams in linux, I was very hesitent. Finally a good enough deal came around and I got a pair of logitech quickcam communicators. After 2 days of trying, my fears were realized and I...

Newbie guide to SUSE 10.1

If you are trying to convert a windows user to linux. You might want to recommand SUSE and give him this very well written guide. http://theseoconsultant.com/suseblog_img/easiest_linux_guide_ever.pdf I was away for a day and I asked my wife to go thru a SUSE install following this guide and follow i...

I was unable to get far listening to the show live. This morning I started listening to the downloaded audio and the show was quite good. Once Dann solved the bandwidth issue the interview turned out interesting. One of my recent favorites.

New subscribers to TUX will be offerred the low subscription rate of $9.95 for 12 issues.
Their website lists the subscription at $9.95.

TUX is pretty good. But I probably won't extend after my free year is over.

That's because if you pronounce "SLED" you're saying "hooker" in like dutch I think it was. How concerned should they be of the tiny Dutch market? Nintendo wasn't worried about upsetting the massive US market with the name they chose. I can understand why they would be in favor of GNOME If Novell w...

I don't get why Novell keeps making these names confusing. "SLED 10" is cool, but Novell wants us all to say "SUSE Linux blah blah blah". I don't like Novell messing with the heritage of this distro; first depreciating KDE and now changing the name. I like having a big company backing my favorite di...

Leo often mentions linux which is great but I don't think he really gets it. After mac os which he adores and his necessary Windows useage for his shows I don't think he has much consideration for linux. His answers to linux questions are often outdated. He has to be mainstream, I suppose, but I was...

Will their be community support for SLED 10?

SLED 10 sure looks good, but what I'm wondering is will there be community support for it? Since the distro is targeted at business, users will be seeking assistance with their IT departments or Novell directly. The major SUSE discussion sites do not have forums for SLED 10, of cause it is early. Wi...

Running XGL on SUSE KDE

Hello, I'm wondering if any SUSE KDE user, Tsuroerusu are you here? :) , has tried using XGL/Compiz on SUSE KDE. Trolling around other forums I seem to understand that under KDE one gets less features than using GNOME. And more importanly, for me, I believe that your will have to install GNOME libra...
