An article on windows media center

http://tinyurl.com/4qx73uq
Man, what an infuriatingly myopic article.
Not even one mention of GBPVR, Let alone a Linux alternative.
Or have I missed the point of the article entirely?
Sheesh!

Re: MythTV on Amahi Server

If you want easy, mythbuntu is your best bet. If you want a great learning experience on linux, try arch linux. The documentation is top notch and the process quite fun. There are arch packages for mythtv once you are up and running which make for a fairly easy installation.

Re: MythTV on Amahi Server

Not sure, but is not amahi server just a service that runs on an existing system? I do not believe it is stand alone os. Its more of a polished distribution based on Fedora. It is intended as a replacement for a MS media / home file server. They treat mythtv as a plugin but it is really a package w...

Re: Mint Debian and MythTV database error

Could this be a version issue or is the mythtv version on the mint deb box the same as your other system? Just a shot in the dark. Kinda strange that it checks the backend. Hey wait... Did you say you tried a debian dist upgrade? I thought we were not supposed to do that with mint debian since it wa...

Hey guys, I'm not sure what is going on but somehow the podcast is breaking my player. I have a Sansa Sandisk Clip+. I sync it using gPodder. All of my other podcasts are fine except for this one. It's only started with this Episode. It worked previously. What happens is the Sandisk Clip+ won't ref...

How much ram did you use?

I've got two 330 ion based systems running myth just fine.
I know of at least two others who got this very unit running with myth without issues.

May it have been another issue?

Don't forget the video memory is shared so suggest at least two gigs of ram to give 512k to the video chip.

Re: Episode 25 - Cablecard in Linux ?!

Nice card. Unfortunately Time Warner has the local monopoly and I would probably get no use out of this promising capture card.

Sadly I continue to rely on my two HD-PVRs. Fortunately they are working great.

In the end, it's still a mystery.

The problem is over but as to what exactly caused it is still a mystery. Before I could not run two HD-PVRs together. Eventually, I felt it best to leave it alone for a while after beating my head into the wall. One month later.... 1.) Borrowed an XP (windows) laptop from my mom to update the firmwa...

Re: Real reason why Netflix is not on Linux (article)

I know it stinks. Especially since I would love to run netflix on a netbook or such. However, as long as it works on the PS3 or the kids Wii, it's really not a big thing for us in our house. While it stinks that I can not integrate this into mythtv, I won't loose my cool over it. Yes, the reasoning ...
