Re: How to change audio input using linux

I have been googling for an hour or so and came up with this. sudo v4l2-ctl --set-audio-input=2 This will work temporarily. A reboot will set back to default. I may just take the approach Pat wrote in his blog and use stereo to avoid problems. I would like surround sound if I can figure out how to s...

Channel Changer

I have finally gotten my new mythbox together. I have put up a PVR-1212 and would like any tips on optimizing it.

I also have a question about the channel changer. I have been using firewire as a channel changer. Is this acceptable with the 1212?

Re: Sound Issues

I don't have much input as to how to improve anything, but the sound is not a problem for me. For me the content makes any sound issue irrelevant. It could be a lot worse and I would still listen.

Video card

I am looking for a video card that will run VDPAU for a new mythbox I am putting together. Pat has recommended this one, but I believe it is obsolete. "My Nvidia 8600GT card (< $50) does VDPAU perfectly" I have looked at this link as well as the wiki and have gotten myself confused. http://www.mytht...

Re: Upgrade advice

I have DVI out but do not have a dvi input on my tv, only hdmi. If you have a DVI port on your video card and hdmi in on your HDTV all you need is a relatively inexpensive cable. It has a DVI connection one end and an HDMI connection on another: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit...

Re: Upgrade advice

Thank's Pat! That is the kind of info I was looking for. I have had myth for 2 years and had my share of ups and downs. I have been down since an auto upgrade a couple of months ago, but back up now and have everything working pretty well. I may be screwed though. My current box is using a riser boa...

Upgrade advice

Hi guys, I hope all had a merry Christmas. I just got around to fixin up my mythbox. There had been an auto update that sort of hosed things up. I have a furlough until the 4th so I went to work. I have a pvr-1212 ordered from Amazon and need suggestions on making some other upgrades. I currently ha...

It is a GTK+ application. Works pretty darn well.

Re: Video Diary

I was directed to guvcview by folks on another forum. It will be easy enough for her to use and it is also easy to append files using kino.

The cheese I installed did not record audio, but guvcview works pretty well. It is in the ubuntu repos.

Thank's for the input.

Video Diary

I just recently converted my wife's laptop to Kubuntu. She has taken to it like a fish to water. Now I will have a much easier time supporting her. There is one request she has that I need some input on. She likes to keep a diary. She has seen one of her sisters using a video diary on winbloz$. Is t...

Movie equivelent for Kplaylist ???

A couple of months ago Linc blogged about Kplaylist. It is awesom by the way.

http://www.kplaylist.net/

Does anyone know of a linux app that will run on the server like Kplaylist except it will play movies. Something like that would be nice if it exists.

Kubuntu 9.10

About a decade or two ago Linc posted in his blog a request for screen shots. I thought that was a great idea and sent him a couple. I recently posted a couple of shots on my Facebook page and they generated a lot of interest. I thought it may be cool to post a link here and see what bubbled up. I s...
