VDPAU and .21 myth

Post by axe » Mon May 10, 2010 11:35 pm

Hi guys

I remember you guys mentioning you had VDPAU running on .21 before .22 was released, and it was embedded.

Since my myth setup has 4 front-ends and records all day long, taking my machine out of action to do any upgrades (not to mention the TB of recordings) would be rough... I did just get a new video card that I have not installed as of yet ('sparkle' geforce 9400GT). since it is well into the 8000s/9000s that you have been talking about supporting VDPAU, all I need in the right repo correct?

Can you guys give me a quick hand/suggestion, or will it work out-of-the-box? my existing 5200 and 6200 severely combs, so is all but unwatchable.

Thanx much
AXE

With 0.21 you have to point to the Avenard repos:
http://www.avenard.org/files/ubuntu-repos/

Nothing is turned on out of the box. You'll have go go into your frontend setup and under playback profiles turn on VDPAU. The wiki entry for VDPAU is very helpful and lists what cards are supported and possible issue:
