ringbuffer error fd -1

I'm new to linux but since I'm and old programmer I figured I'd try MythTV on mybuntu. I've struggled to the nearly functioning MythTV except I find I have a ringbuffer but with error. I figure fd -1 error is trival but all my searches come up empty. Any help would be appreciated.
