Stuck at 800x600 in Mythbuntu? Read this

New installation and you can't change out of 640/480 800x600 to a higher resolution? Just happened to me and I entirely missed the solution.
This oddity is a battle between the cx18 chip set (in the Hauppauge HVR-1600 among others) and the nvidia binary drivers. The solution is to modify your grub.conf to add a vmalloc command. Details are in the wiki section supplied by 76GTA. http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HVR-1600
