Transfer Recordings to my laptop

I have been extremely lazy for the last three months and now i have built up a cache of three months worth of MythTv recordings on my Myth box. I travel a lot for my job, so i bought a larger hard drive for my laptop and now i want to transfer my recordings to my laptop so i can watch them on the road. Problem is, as we all know, is that the MythTv recordings have file names that tell me nothing about the recording, except for the date. I've done a few searches on the internets, but all i find are posts of people using Mythexport. I tried using Mythexport to transfer a few recordings to see how it would go, but Mythexport is processing the recordings, it isn't just doing a move of the recordings from myth box to laptop. I am extremely green at MySQL work, so does anybody know of a script that i could use to query the database and rename the recordings to something more readable? any help, suggestions or, if this question has been answered already, a link to that thread would all be greatly appreciated, thanks.

in optical disks , you can export native files to a folder instead of a disc. so in my case I just exported all my kids sesame street episodes to a shared folder on my laptop. it works like a charm and the files are human readable.

then I used format factory to shrink them down to a manageable size and shot them over to my droid phone.
