Zotac ION as a front end

Post by spudmn » Thu Sep 23, 2010 8:32 pm

Hi Pat

If I remember correctly you are using a Zotac ION for your front end.

Here in New Zealand I don't have much choice about the type of ION boards that are available.

I am looking at getting a Zotac ION ITX B Series 230.

What are your thoughts on it and do you use the 230 series or a faster CPU?

Regards
Aaron

I love my Zotac Ion box. It works great. My box is the faster first generation model (the A-U). Faster is always better but honestly I hear people having great results even with Acer Revo which has the slower single core processor.

Don't forget the video memory is shared so suggest at least two gigs of ram to give 512k to the video chip.

I am running a zotac single core 2gb ram and 4gb usb drive for the hard disk and it works brilliantly for my bedroom dvr.
a little slow on boot up, but everything else works great. but i only use it to watch shows and videos from the main backend.
