I'd say it's really not bad, the only problem is that no one, who would need an OS to be pre-installed, has never heard of these vendors.

But that is one of the reasons that we created it. To get the names of the companies that do offer Linux or no OS as an option out there. The way we figured it, if we could make it easier for people to find a computer that has Linux or no OS on it that maybe it would have a positive effect on the whole community.

Yes, but it's people like my mom who needs to know about this, plus she needs to know why Linux is a better solution that Microsoft's Windows.

All of us in the community already knows, it's not a problem for most of us installing SUSE, Fedora, Ubuntu, Mandriva etc. etc. because it's super super easy for anyone who can install an operating system.

All I can say is, You gotta start somewhere. Your Mom asks you for advice about computer stuff like my Mom does, No? Well then this database is for you, and when Linux becomes popular enough then 'regular' people will discover it and use it too.

If there is never a first place to find something then how can we expect there to be a second?

I think this is great especially for people who are afraid of installing ANY OS, let alone Linux.

That is one of its purposes, to be a place where one can find computers where you do not have to pay the M$ tax even though you are not getting Windows.

ya I think this is a great list

I emailed my co workers at work saying if they want a computer this holiday season to please consider this list and buy the same computer than the dells and gateways but with a better os because the dells and gateways won't sell you the better os.

when it comes down to it and the guy from system 76 hit on it that was one of the recent shows is that the dells and gateways all get their hardware from the same place and you are really just buying the same computer but with a much better os on it.
