GP2X Nooooooooo

It finally happened, I done broked the GP2x. Well, not 100%, but the headphones jack snapped off inside (I'd heard that the jack could be touchy). Damn thing still works great though. I'm going to see about soldering the jack back on tonight (if I have time). Barring that, It may be time for a new player. I'm considering one of the iaudio varieties. My main requirement, of course, is ogg support.

Whooohooo, I fixed it. A touch of superglue and some soldering and now it's as good as new!

Dann, how's the quality of the screen as a picture viewer. I'm thinking about picking up a gp2x just to use as something I can take along in my camera bag so I could have a small device with a decent sized 3.5" screen that I could pop the sd card from my cam into and view the pics on. The gp2x looks to be the cheapest device I can find with a 3.5" screen and sd slot.

I think the quality of the screen is pretty good. I've never noticed any issues and all the photos I have looked at pretty much appeared as they did on my computer screen at home, albeit somewhat smaller. For the price and it's features, I think the gp2x is an excellent product.

Thanks for the info Dann. I'm going to see if I can pick one up on ebay. You used to be able to get them for $160 new from Lik-Sang but they shut down a few months ago. Even though it's marketed as a gaming device, from what I see the gp2x has all the features of a typical PMP minus an internal HD, and is much cheaper.
