nice article. It also makes me think about all these market share studies that are put out.

they say windoze has market share but how do they count all these back room boxes that admins have put redhat, fedora, debian, ubuntu, slackware etc on just by downloading the iso and how these boxes are silently running the company and the so-called CIO doesn't even know they are there.

I bet there are a lot more of those than people think. I know of some. Shoot back in the mid 90's I put slackware on a pentium that was state of the art back then and ran a dns server off of it along with dhcp and the so-called cio (who was pushing microsoft at the time) didn't even know. I am sure there are tons of that situation out there that all these studies aren't taking into account.

I do think Linux is used more than what the numbers show. I saw an article that claimed Microsoft had 90% of share. I find that pretty high as I know many many people that use Linux and mac. My dentist uses "Red Hat". Which was a suprise to me.

I think in the next couple of years Linux use will really increase, especially if new windows o/s coming out is full of flaws, security holes etc.
