Foresight Linux - Possible Guests?

I just installed Foresight Linux. Anyone else tried it?

I was amazed by one thing. After the install, I did the suggested upgradeall with their package manager conary (built by rpath). After doing so, Gnome theme didn't work, I lost icons and got a black screen and the appearance manager did not function.

Anyway, the system is still usable, but ugly. After asking on the IRC about it, they suggested the command "sudo conary rollback 1" which is like "undo" for an upgrade.

I thought this was so cool. I did that, and once again have a happy desktop. This is neat to have a distro that is bleeding edge Gnome, but if there are problems you can "rollback" to a stable desktop. Perhaps yum and aptitude have this kind of functionality too, but I have never seen it on this scale where a whole upgrade can be rolled back. You have automatic snap shots without having to take snap shot of your system.

Anyway I thought it might be kind of neat to have the Foresight guys on the show. In Episode 166 you had the CEO of rpath, but what about the guys who do a lot of work on Foresight itself.

Ken VanDine and Michael K. Johnson are two names who seem to be main developers. Just a thought.

Give Foresight a try, the community seems really cool, and open to new users like me.

Sorry, Pat, it would help if I would actually check the calendar before opening my mouth. I really hope that I can listen live to that episode. I could be tied up with family stuff though.

This is really cool, because Ken and Jorge (from Ubuntu) did a tag team Gnome 2.20 presentation at Ohio Linux Fest, and it was great. They found out the night before that they would be on deck, and wow I was really impressed with their presentation. Their presentation and talking to the guys who manned the Foresight booth convinced me to give it a try.

By the way, Warp 11, ended up being really cool guests last week. I didn't think I would be interested, but the interview was interesting, they were excited and positive about their work, and the Amiga angle always makes me smile.

Having now looked at the calendar, you have lined up some incredible guests. It will be weeks and weeks of Linuxy Goodness.

I think the end of November and December will have a heavy emphasis on embedded Linux. I'm looking forward to it. Maybe we could do a special listener call-in episode for Dec 26?

WTF? It has nothing to do with multimedia ?

I guess mythtv runs on embedded devices as well?
