anyone tried Gobuntu ?

I am annoyed that they did not make it a live cd and instead a text installer, that's not what this threads about, that's on lugradio instead

has anyone tried it?

I am interested to see how it went.

I was thinking of doing a custom version of Ubuntu, called Goatse Gapin' (Har Har!) complete with special wallpaper and icons.

But seriously, there is already a "free" version of Ubuntu called gNewSense, which is officially endorsed by RMS.

There are some Really Good Reasons (tm) that Gobuntu is better than gNewSense. I read about it, but it bored me so much I can't remember. I think the fact that Gobuntu actually exists is one of the reasons it's better.

That is an excellent summary of my feelings. WTF is the point of taking a distro that is known as "freedom hating" and stripping out all of it's non-free bits? To show it can be done? Is it just to have the 'buntu name? I'm not usually one to say that forks (or whatever) are a waste of time, but I can't see the point of this.
