Eben Moglen's Dot Communist Manifesto speech

Listening to 223 right now. I'm at the part where you guys are discussing DRM and how the whole point of it is to maintain an existing business model and make money for companies. On that note, this is a fun watch...

Eben Moglen from his Dot Communist Manifesto speech...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgCKRN_Bzzs the following begins at 30:45
when we fight the music wars, and the RIAA, and the recording companies say, "but it's piracy", they are lying. They want us to believe that they are concerned that some of the audience will cease to pay. Five percent more will listen for free, or ten percent, or fifteen percent. That's not the problem, that's not the fear. The fear is that a hundred percent of the creators will go elsewhere. That the old systems of distribution will be deserted entirely by the people who make the nothing that is sold. And then they lose not a little, not a lot, but everything.

I watched this yesterday, Eben Moglen is a brilliant speaker. It's a good thing we have people like Richard Stallman and Eben Moglen in our community fighting for our digital freedom, even if many people do not care about it.
