Uses for excess RAM

Post by spotslayer » Sun Jun 29, 2008 9:13 am

I have recently aquired a laptop from a cousin. She is an IBM employee and the laptop is loaded with 4g of ram. It was originally loaded with Vista(spit-spit). I never booted it with that, but immediately use a kubuntu live cd. I put kubuntu on it and things are great. This brings me to my question about ram since after booting I have 3445M of ram free. I know I can load several virtual machines but this is a laptop and I dont need several Vmachines.

Any inovative ideas on how to use this excess ram?

David :D :D

I wonder what she ran on it, as I have vista run fine on 2 GB of ram.
Are you into mulitmedia? as rendering can do with ram.

You might need it when Firefox 4.0 comes out.

Firefox 3 has much better memory footprint than firefox 2 , so I can only take a hunch that firefox 4.0 will be even better.
