http://amaroklive.com/

Amarok Live CD now contains tunes from Magnatune bundled in the bootable CD.

Great idea!

I wish I could get amarok to run dependably on any of my machines. It freezes constantly for me, regardless of the engine I choose. It happens all the time, and I'd file a bug report, except all I have to say is "The damn thing freezes, continues playing the song it's on, and I have to killall amarokapp to get my desktop back. No real rhyme or reason AFAICT."

I assume this can't be common, but out of three machines I use regularly, it happens. V1.2 and 1.3, AMD and Intel, different kernel versions, different OSes. It's trippy.

It wouldn't have something to do with the sound system device chosen (ALSA, etc.) would it?

I doubt it since I've had this problem with both KDE and gnome, as well as with sound server turned off, doing only hardware mixing. Unless alsa, esd, arts, and audigy are all incompatible with amarok, I'm guessing it's an issue with the app. I haven't investigated enough to file a bug though, and haven't honestly been interested enough to search for known issues of this type.
