Just finished listening to the new episode of LugRadio. They're calling it quits.
http://lugradio.org/episodes/104 The calling it quits part starts at 37:26
We announce that LugRadio will end at LugRadio Live UK this July, and talk about why the show's going out on a high. Tell us what you think:
Another good podcast bites the dust.

I don't remember that ever happening. They always take a break between seasons, but they've never quit to my knowledge.

Dude, it's bad form to a attack show on someone else s forum. If you have negative words for them please do it on their forum.
Thanks

I was very surprised and disappointed by this announcement. The shutdown of LUG Radio is another demonstration of the amazing longevity of TLLTS. More than ever, TLLTS is the gold standard which Linux podcasts strive to measure up to. I was listening to several episodes this past week (running slightly behind) and thinking to myself about how awesome the interviews were. You TLLTS guys are great interviewers, and you provide a wonderful service to the community by letting us hear directly from these people about themselves and their projects. Naturally I also love the parts that are just the hosts talking among themselves, as you TLLTS guys always have interesting insights plus the entertaining banter! Congratulations Dann, Alan, Pat, and Linc, on your long-standing success and thank you for the education and entertainment!
Currently running Crunchbang 8.10.02
Mandriva 2008 Spring and Kubuntu 7.04

I can't help but chuckle when you describe TLLTS as "successful". I don't mean anything derogatory by that, but TLLTS could manage five listeners a week and the guys would still be there each and every Wednesday night cranking out a new show like clockwork.
Seriously, TLLTS fills a great niche and I thank the crew for all their effort over the years. The fact that I'm still here on this forum after 3 years proves they must be doing something right.

That IS success. If you're doing what you like to do and enjoying yourself, you're successful.
I guess I'm of the Dave Slusher school of podcast philosphy: if you're not doing what you love, get out. If you're worried about how to get more listeners or how to "monetize," you're in the wrong business. There are so many shows out and so little chance of commercial success that there's no reason to do it if you don't love it.
Back to the topic of LugRadio, I never heard a show where they weren't enjoying themselves and doing what they wanted to do. I'm glad they're getting out before they get tired and bored and are jsut do it out of obligation.

We will hopefully see some new listeners on this forum and in IRC because of this. Not that they ever had to choose, but it might be cool to invite their listeners over.
