Pat, can you make the sound clips available for download? Possibly put together as one clip?

You'd probably need BitTorrent to effectively distribute a collection of those!Patrick wrote:Ask and you shall receive:

The clips were from MacBreak Weekly #55 and Windows Weekly #18. Imagine how many more I would of found had I spent more than a few minutes looking.

I doubt you would find much more because neither show talks much about linux anyway. The hack job you did of extracting those windows weekly clips is pretty funny. If you listen to that segment in it's entirety Paul talks of things he likes about linux as well.Patrick wrote:Ask and you shall receive:

Really. I randomly pick 2 episodes and hit the jackpot. As far as my clips being a hack job, I didn't manually put words together and make up sh|t. These guys said what they said. People were asking for examples and I did so with minimal effort. I cited the original recordings. People are free to listen to them if they'd like.hellonorman wrote:I doubt you would find much more because neither show talks much about linux anyway. Yeah really.Patrick wrote: Really.
You found two minutes of audio out of hundreds of hours of programming, hardly a jackpot.I randomly pick 2 episodes and hit the jackpot.
No you just manually skipped all context and hacked together clips that were sometimes said minutes apart. But nothing wrong with that when you want to manufacture a point huh?As far as my clips being a hack job, I didn't manually put words together and make up sh|t.
Yes they did. They backed them up with reasoning also. You barely said two words when it came down to discussing the clips on your show. These guys said what they said. People were asking for examples and I did so with minimal effort. I cited the original recordings.
I hope they do.People are free to listen to them if they'd like.
Believe what you want.hellonorman wrote: You found two minutes of audio out of hundreds of hours of programming, hardly a jackpot. I believe that you randomly picked those episodes about as much as I believe you don't listen to them in the first place.
I merely cited examples of Linux and F/OSS bashing from two TWIT shows. The speakers words are their own. Nothing manufactured. Manufactured would of been piecing together different sentences word by word. I didn't do that.hellonorman wrote:No you just manually skipped all context and hacked together clips that were sometimes said minutes apart. I think we discussed it long enough. Barely 2 words? Who's making up sh|t now?hellonorman wrote:Yes they did. They backed them up with reasoning also. You barely said two words when it came down to discussing the clips on your show.
At least we can agree on that.hellonorman wrote:I hope they do.
Ok you stick to that story.Patrick wrote: I merely cited examples of Linux and F/OSS bashing from two TWIT shows. The speakers words are their own. Nothing manufactured. Manufactured would of been piecing together different sentences word by word. I didn't do that.
The only "we" was Dann and Linc. When it came down to discussing the clips you had barely two words to say.I think we discussed it long enough. Barely 2 words? Who's making up sh|t now?
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion some are more reasonable than others. My opinion isn't worth less than theirs. People should decide on their own.
Pat, I'll back you. I listened to all those shows myself, and the level of Linux and open source bashing was on the rise. They used to be informative until they started displaying their ignorance. It got to the point where the shows were becoming propaganda and lost all value. You can tell propaganda when they start making generalizations which just aren't true. I subsequently deleted the feeds. You're free to do the same hellonorman.hellonorman wrote:Ok you stick to that story.
But it's pretty clear you were desperately trying to back up your claim of "recent" linux bashing by un-randomly poaching audio from year and half old shows and splicing them together.
I'll back you up too, Pat. The recent negativity in this forum is really getting me down. I'm developing a theory that hellonorman may be Andy Ihnatko.Pat, I'll back you. Consequently, shouldn't you be on the TWIT forums if you love those shows so much? My bad, you have to pay for those. Yep, Leo and friends don't care what you have to say unless you're coughing up $2 a month. Still, it's a small price to pay to support your Windows Weekly podcast,.

DUDE WTF.... this is not just linux bashing this week we been talking about this issue for around 3 months on the show (if you ever listen to it). There are just too many linux ignorance in that twit network. They want to be fair and balance but they will be the first to admit that they are linux ignorants and since they never talk about the community it sounds like they are not even in this side of the fence.hellonorman wrote:Ok you stick to that story.Patrick wrote: I merely cited examples of Linux and F/OSS bashing from two TWIT shows. Wow. Just wow.Jza wrote: DUDE WTF.... this is not just linux bashing this week we been talking about this issue for around 3 months on the show (if you ever listen to it). In other words, they are just fanboys, not really geeks. They think they are because they spend money on blinking lights. But really when was the first time you heard about setting up something that was not design for it on the first place. They are just end users in the end. Their thought process is so used to consumers that they can't think that this open source was meant to be open to modify.
Because listening to all the clips paints a pretty interesting picture. I don't know if you realize it or not but we do minimal preparations for shows.hellonorman wrote:After you listen to those segments in whole ask yourself why would Pat want so badly for Dann to play them uninterrupted in the spliced together order he had them in.
So people could more easily find the file of the audio clips. Take your tin foil hat off for a minute and maybe you'll see there's no conspiracy.hellonorman wrote: Why would the title of this thread get changed from "...Dann ruined your segment..." to "Twit Linux Haters..."?
I just grabbed a couple old shows. It just proves that they've been bashing on Linux and F/OSS in general for a long time. Do they do it did every single episode? Probably not. Anybody could go listen to their back catalog of old episodes and probably find many many more instances of this. Anybody is free to do just that.hellonorman wrote: Why would Pat choose year old shows to look for clips in to back up his claim?
Yes it paints a picture of linux hate where it doesn't exist.Patrick wrote: Because listening to all the clips paints a pretty interesting picture. I don't know if you realize it or not but we do minimal preparations for shows.
No conspiracy. Just debunking one persons silly claims. So people could more easily find the file of the audio clips. Take your tin foil hat off for a minute and maybe you'll see there's no conspiracy.
Anyone that goes to the twit site and navigates through the clicks and pages required to reach THOSE two shows can plainly see that you didn't "just grab" a couple of old shows. Anyone that listens to those segments in full will see that what you poached was not an accurate representation of the conversations and that it doesn't prove what you tried to make it prove.I just grabbed a couple old shows. Your opinion, I disagree.hellonorman wrote:Yes it paints a picture of linux hate where it doesn't exist.
Again, your opinion.hellonorman wrote: Just debunking one persons silly claims.
You call it poaching, I call it gathering. Again people can go back to the source and make up their own minds. They can also go back and find more instances of this type of bashing. I'm sure there's more.hellonorman wrote: Anyone that listens to those segments in full will see that what you poached was not an accurate representation of the conversations and that it doesn't prove what you tried to make it prove.
