Those of us on the Gulf appreciate that. it is still sun shining here near the gulf in texas, we have a place to go but have not boarded up the house yet.

During Allison we were living on the west side of town, so it did not affect us so much. I do know people who lost everything. In all the time I have live here, I have only seen that kind of flooding twice. During Rita and Katrina was scary for the high wend but did not do that kind of flooding in our area. That really surprised me. I have never left the gulf area because of a hurricane. if Ike comes this way, I may make an exception. I hope Ike goes back out to the Atlantic. As many hurricanes as I have seen, the east coast needs to share a few without any casualties though. I deeply feel for Florida, That must be a nightmare for them this year.

Hurricanes are pretty scary. I have never left my home for one either. I was in Houston for Carla and here in Brownsville for Beulah. I have been in here in Brownsville for every single one since Beulah. Dolly was the worst for me since Beulah. Beulah and Carla were the worst I have been through. I hope we go for a while before another comes through, but I will probably ride it out when it does .

Carla was fun. Our house was 3 feet above the street but water was in the house before the rain let up. We lived about a block from a bayou. Per my Sicilian mother's offer you can not refuse to our dad, we moved to the west side of town not too long after that. She grew up in Dallas with all the tornadoes and had enough of bad weather. Looks like Ike did not want to visit the east coast. Maybe it will make a right turn at the Mississippi. I have a brother who lives in Kerrville, we need to go up and visit him anyway..
