What happened to Helios?

Post by dann » Mon Sep 22, 2008 7:29 pm

When I hit the Lobby4Linux.com website it dumps the browser screen and tells me I have been hit by a virus. Then wants me to do a virus scan. It comes back with some knockoff virus checker. Annoying.

I recall he talked about this and posted a link to the example. I wonder if someone hijacked his site.

Odd, I emailed him and he said nothing was wrong and things should be good. I went back to the page this morning and it was fine. But here is the rub.

Go to google and do a search on helios solutions. Hit the first link and you will see what I am talking about.

That is the link right there.

Alright, here is the skinny on how it's working. Hitting the site directly will not produce the compromise. If you hit he site from a referrer it may fire off. Now I suspect that if you click on the link above it's not going to fire because it may just be working on referrals from google and/or other search engines. Pretty sneaky. Most people would not think to go to their own pages through a search engine and may never be aware they have been exploited.

I blame Linc of course.
