Going to try out Breezy Bastard for awhile

Hehehe, I seem to have broken Debian Sid again,

this time I can't even get to a command prompt to try and fix it. I'm sure I could try and repair whatever I broke using Kanotix live, but I have no clue what I did. Anyway, this gives me an opportunity to install the latest Ubuntu release, and see how things have progressed since Hoary. Hopefully Breezy is alittle more stable than Sid.

Quick question for people using Breezy. Do you still get security updates only, or do you get full software updates now? I heard that starting with Breezy, new versions of software will pop up in the repositories.

So far just a few bugfixes. Of course, I haven't enabled backports yet since last time I looked (about a week ago) it wasn't up yet.

Nope, just tried it. Backports isn't open yet. IIRC, they'll open backports once they open the dapper repos for business.

I really, really, *REALLY* wish they'd rethink their current release cycle. It's broken IMO, and IME apt-get dist-upgrade doesn't work. I've done it from warty to hoary, and from hoary on breezy on a few different machines, and there's always been some sort of breakage, even if it hasn't been fatal.

It looks like Breezy is going to have to wait. Debian is alive! It turns out, when I upgraded my xserver last apt-get upgrade, I didn't keep my config file, and accidentally used the one packaged with the upgrade. Ordinarilly, it probably wouldn't have mattered, but I had the Nvidia driver installed, so it screwed everything up. Fixed it by simply reinstalling the Nvidia driver, and reconfiguring the xserver.
