BashPodder running on the Palm Pre

I came across this. Thought it was interesting. Linc's BashPodder is being used on the Palm Pre.

We’ve had it for the Open Sourced Palm Pre for a bit, but Android’s open platform should also make drPodder-like applications possible. I consider drPodder to be just about perfect. No need to sync *anything*.

I can schedule the downloads over my phone’s wifi, or EVDO, (or just stream them with the newest option) and it’s set to tell you when new podcast episodes are avaialable. Naturally, the awesomeness of RSS is what made all this possible to build from.

Since BashPodder is GPL, might there be a problem with how the guy is licensing drPodder?

License: From v0.4.1 forward, I have changed the license. It is still Open Source, but I feel the MIT license was too open. I don't want somebody else to take drPodder, slap a new name on it, and sell it as their own work. Anyone is free to look at the source to get ideas for their own apps.

Palm is being sued by Artifex Software over the PDF viewer in Palm's Pre smartphone, which may violate the GNU GPL. Artifex alleges that Palm has copied Artifex's PDF rendering engine, called muPDF, and integrated it into the Palm Pre's PDF viewer application without the proper licensing conditions. The entire application must be licensed under the GPL if muPDF is part of the application. It seems more and more cell phones are shipping with open source code, but in a closed manner.
