Hi Guys,
A couple of things are buggin me with my current setup which I just cant nail down and wondered if any of you could offer some advice?:
1. Recording sound to the PC results in a very noisy file, I can hear all kinds of cracks and whizzes and sorta morse code sounds. I have muted all unecessary channels but its still very bad. Soundcard is an intel ich5 and I'm using kde although i think the driver for the card is an oss one!?
2. Using xlite softphone to connect in to my asterisk box and find the sound very very choppy, I can miss whole chunks of a conversation. I have tried all supported codecs to no avail, I have tried kiax and that seems to work ok but i really rpefer to use xlite, can anyone suggest what I can do to fix the jitter?
If you could help me with those 2 points I would be in hog heaven!
Any help appreciated.

Doh!
Im running Kubuntu 5.10, I have 2 soundcards, Audigy 2 using the EMUK10K1 driver and an intel ICH5 which uses the intel8x0 driver. The intel card is the one I am using to record sounds with - cant get any input on the Audigy 2 card to work but apparently thats because Im using kernel 2.6.12-10-686. I am using Audacity to record and also the audio setup tool built in to the Xlite sip phone - both sound real bad. The mic has been tested in windows and works fine.
The PC is a P4 3.2ghz with 1gb Ram witha Nvidia Geforce FX 5600 Ultra.
Any help appreciated
