More info on Apple's potential move to Windows

they only devices that I have found that don't run on linux is because they are mostly cheap devices that depend on software to make it run. I wouldn't recommend buying one of those devices anyway because they don't last - you now like the ipod. the reason the ipod is cash cow is because people have to buy them every 2 to 3 years because either their battery fails and it is just as cheap to buy a new one or they just plain break. I am sure John has a collection of ipods.

I will take his prediction even further in that the desktop will eventually go to linux (both apple and microsoft) because drm will fail miserable because people will finally get common sense and stop paying these ridiculous prices for shat software and hardware. I will also predict that some company will get locked out of their systems because they bought microsoft vista's drm hook line and sinker and will be held ransom.

but one can only hope and I totally haven't lost faith in mankind yet.

I don't even listen to twit anymore - because a) it takes me forever to find their podcast to download and b) too much apple c) too much dvorchak - I mean they act like he is some kind of god or something.

I've basically given up on reading Microshaft vs. Macincrap vs. Linux articles as these so-called "analysts" are just so friggin' clue-less about the whole industry. They really aren't worth my time. I find I get much more value out of this time watching my dog scratch herself.

I tend to agree with you about him saying Linux on the desktop never caught on. That isn't true at all, since Linux has atleast as much market share as OS X does. Linux will also continue to improve and advance at a faster rate than Windows or OS X due to being open source and community driven.

You're missing the point.

What he said was: "It takes only one favorite gizmo or program to stop a user from changing." The fact that lots of things DO work, or the things that don't work are cheap crap doesn't change his point. Plenty of people will give up if they find out their favorite thing doesn't work, even if it's crap. I've seen it over and over. MP3s, DVDs, video editing, iTunes, whatever; it only takes one pet app or gizmo to keep people on Windows.

Why do people use the Mac then? Good question. I think people are willing to put up with the things that don't work on the Mac because that gives them an excuse to pay 3 times as much for the ultra cool looking Mac compatible version.
