Kopete 0.12alpha1 was released today (found it in portage). It is very improved. It is easier to put up away messages and they added a few really awesome styles (My new favorite is Hacker with the light variant). They also added support for Jingle (Google Talk VoIP) and AIM Chat rooms (HURRAY!) according to their roadmap but I havn't gotten to try those out yet.
