Ubuntu won distro of the year, with Slackware a very, very close second (only 11 votes separation).

shouldn't some of the categories be restricted to new candidates? frozen bubble rocks but its pretty old, and it hasn't changed either.

One could say the same for Slackware (or Vim, or...)

If people still think it's the best, why shouldn't it win?

SUSE didn't do bad either by taking 3rd place, will be interesting to see what happens over the next year.

I sat through a Novell presentation yesterday on OES; damn if that is not sweet stuff. Installing it right now.

OES is Novell stuff on Linux right?

And by the way, I'm not a SUSE zealot the way a lot of Ubuntu guys are (Not saying the majority of them are, but I see a lot of zealots just going around like "Ohh Ubuntu 0wnz everybody's ass, Mark's ass is good.... Ubuntu! Ubuntu! Ubuntu!".), I like Mandriva better when it comes to internationalism, they do a much much better job at that.

You need to take a look at SUSE 10.1 when it's released next month, it looks to be a really good release, integrated desktop search, wonderful new theming, a new way to install the ATi driver that makes it a piece of cake to do even for new people (They just check a box and click Accept), huge improvements to the YaST package manager. And maybe some XGL stuff to play with too, Fedora 5 and SUSE 10.1 sounds to be really great.
