Picked up a Samsung YP-U1 Ogg Player

hey wally, could you try to find out what the bitrate range for ogg is? If its high enough i'm grabbing one of those.

I just bought a nifty little Samsung audio player from Circuit City for $100. It's got 512MB of storage, support for MP3, Ogg Vorbis, ASF, and WMA. I haven't had any issues at all managing audio files in Linux. Plug it in, mount it like any other USB storage device, and drag and drop files onto it. I've heard of people having issues with low-bitrate Ogg files with the iRiver, and this seems to play them just fine. The sound quality is fantastic too. Well worth the money, especially for people looking for an Ogg player that works well with Linux.

I just ripped a track from one of my CDs at 320kbps VBR, and dragged an old episode of TLLTS at 32kbps onto it, and they both play back fine. I was actually surprised the music file played, since it goes over the typical 320k limit.

Edit: just tried playing an Ogg file encoded at 500kbps, and it even plays that.

I think the server was adjusting to the daylight savings change so it put yours first after it changed the time. Its a small bug

It's the YP-U1, which came out sometime late last year. I don't think Samsung makes this model anymore, but any of their flash-based players that support Ogg should have the same capabilities.
