You sold me down the iRiver

So there I was, lying in bed listening to the dulcet tones of Mssr's Fessenden et al when I (you guys really help me get to sleep!) when I heard mention of something called an iRiver. I'm now £120 poorer thanks to you three. Bought the 1 GB version from Amazon - be thankful you're in the US. The price difference in Macs alone has people make special trips to the US just to pick them up on the cheap.

Nice one Daniel,

I posted the first post - didn't realise I wasn't signed in! I'll use this thread to post back comments on the different linux tools for using it. I'm thinking of giving Jono LugRadio's Python program a go. I couldn't justify anything other than SuperSaver delivery though so I doubt I'll get my little baby until mid-week. Let me know what you think!

Oh yeah - papa's got a brand new bag. It arrived today. Dann has got it pretty much spot on in his review. So far I'm not at all keen on the little joystick/button thingy but with ifp-line it works a dream. So now the whole llts has got one huh?

I need to pickup an mp3 player one of these days. I'm thinking either a I-River (1 gig version) or a Neuros player. Haven't decided yet.

come on Patrick, you're now the only llts guy w/out an iRiver. I just recorded some stuff off mic and the quality is surprisingly good. Not sure what linux support for Neuros is like but it just goes to show how well a company can do when they dont cripple their product with DRM. It also shows what happens when something works under linux. They should seriously think about contributing development time to drivers.
