Win 2000 and DVD playback

Post by dann » Fri Jun 30, 2006 5:25 pm

I picked up a Lite-On DVD-RW for my old man and myself. Works perfect on Linux and seems to work fine under Windows, but I am not getting any video for DVD playback under Windows 2000.

The drive came with PowerDVD 6 and after entering the OEM code everything appeared fine. When I put in a DVD and press play, I can hear the audio going but there is no video displayed. Instead, it is just the PowerDVD generic window. When I stop, forward or rewind an indicator pops up informing that it moved to the next chapter or is on the root menu, but still no video.

I know you have to have a registered DVD app to view DVD's in windows and I am figuring that PowerDVD should be able to do this. I tried re-activiating it with the code but it says it is already activated.

I can confirm that Power DVD has always worked for me by just installing it.

Have you tried VLC for Windows?
