Xfce 4.4 released

Quick question I was hoping you guys could answer.

I enabled the built in compositing functionality in Xfce, but it doesn't start automatically when I start up the desktop. I have to type "xcompmgr -f -c" in order to turn it on. How can I start it up automatically? Another related question is that I enabled the panel transparency with the "transset" command, but that doesn't start up automatically, either. How can I turn this stuff on by default?

Try adding this to your xorg.conf:

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
EndSection

and if you have an nvidia card, try adding:

Option "RenderAccel" "true"

to the "Device" section.

Ah, there is actually a new utility in the window manager tweaks section, that allows you to toggle the various composite features. I got everything working now.

I'm really liking this transparent inactive window feature. You can set all inactive windows to be "grayed out" in a sense, so all focus is on the active window. Really nifty feature.

If you read the change logs, Gorkon, you will find that the Developers want nothing to do with you; so stick with Gnome!

That tells me what I want to know. It's too bad really as it would take little effort to extend the buttons a few pixels, and it would make the trasition easier from Windows, Mac OS X and Gnome (not sure about KDE).

I'm pretty sure I'm not Gorkon, though. I've met him, and he's not me.
