I know someone from my school that says linux is better than windows and osx and yet on his laptop he runs vista.
He is of course not a minority , but it goes to show that linux being technically better does not always win on that merit.

This is interesting as well. Are you saying that despite the linux desktop marketshare that it's actually the case that the majority of people run windows and osx even though they think linux is better?

No, that leaves out all the people who simply can't use Linux for practical reasons.
