help i want to set up my suse to retrieve my gmail email on i used the fourm discussed by
Wally Balljacker
but i still get error
fetchmail: query status =3 (authfail)

This should help. You are probably getting a failure because Gmail uses SSL for its POP3 so just make sure you have POP3 enabled from the options in Gmail and follow these instructions...

Gmail uses a different port # for pop3, there are instructions at Gmail. They will send copys of your mail to another account if that doesn't work for you.

well my aim of setup gmail was to test fetchmail cause we need to in implement in site which hosted by another isp but i want to setup server email in our suse 9 box but i tried i get lost how to set fetch mail to fetch from pop3 server i get the same error of dns conical can help thanks for gmail help it worked fine

Dude!! PUNCTUATION!!11!1!
My guess is your fetchmail setup is fine. You also have to enable POP retrieval on th GMAIL side to get it to work. I didn't have to make fetchmail use a different port.
Open G-Mail, click on "Settings" (at the top), click on "Forwarding and POP." In the "POP Download:" section, pick the appropriate option ("Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on" is good).
Save changes, and run fetchmail to see what happens. Let us know if it works.
