LWE is officially done in Boston

Post by Patrick » Wed May 24, 2006 9:18 am

I just got an email from the LWE people. The event will no longer be held in Boston. What's worse is the details of the future show in New York. Linux World Open Solutions Summit will be only be 2 days long and it will be held at the Marriott Marquis hotel, not the massive Jacob Javits convention center as in years past. What's even worse is that there will be no exhibition hall for vendors or a .org Pavillion. I'm a little bummed out right now.

Dude, that sucks. Did they give a reason for no .org pavillion? Must be because they didn't make money on that. I thought that the section of the Boston convention center was just about the right size this year. I don't know about the size of the size of the Marriot in New York, but isn't it way smaller??? They must be throwing all of their eggs in the San Fran show and reducing the east coast show to the size of a con.

This blows. Well maybe someone will start something up at a nearby hotel for the .org people. I just may show up in New York anyway for the smaller-shorter show.

I hope you-all still plan on going next year in some capacity.

I'll be there. The old LWE at the Javitts Center was pretty damn big from what I remember. It was as big as the Java Expo.

That sucks, this year was my first year, too. Did they give you any reason?

Yeah, they said after you showed up that was it! Too much riff-raff coming through the door! They were gonna close it down right then and there, but with the fire and all the people collapsing, they got busy doing other stuff.

Har Har. Must have been the TLLTS booth causing all kinds of mayhem, and chaos. The suits probably didn't like all us Tech Show freaks hanging around the booth, scaring off passerbyers, and disrupting everything. It was no coincidence that the first year you guys got a dot org booth was the last year of LWE Boston!
