On an interesting column by PcPro's Tim Danton explains how Microsoft went to great strives to impede that OpenOffice.org 2.0 was packaged on the same CD where Office 2007 was distributed on their magazine.

There can be no doubt that Microsoft is afraid of the open-source movement. Last month, as part of the conditions for allowing us to include Office 2007 on the cover disc, Microsoft Corp - in many ways a company distinct from the far cuddlier and more approachable Microsoft UK - wouldn't allow us to put any open-source software onto the same disc.

For instance, Microsoft specifically named OpenOffice.org as a program we couldn't include on the cover disc.

The column also includes an interview with OpenOffice.org's marketing lead John McCreesh.

The question should be, who's afraid of competition?

The snake oil sales man doesn't want you to know that his cure-all medicine is just water filtered through other people's used tea bags.

Same goes for Microsoft.

this is such bullshit -

what if the government let henry ford do what microsoft is doing to the computer industry

we would all be driving fords right now with no other choice

I have had it with microsoft and me personally am going to start shoving open source down people's throat like I have had windows shoved down mine.

fsck off microsoft - I personally hope they die a slow and painful death.
