linux on mac powerbook

I listen to your show daily and have a little knowledge on Linux but more a windows and mac user than linux but interested to learn more, so great show.... I use an engineering software that runs on windows, unix and linux, I would love to be able to run linux and my software on my apple 17" powerbook, any ideas? The software I use is Pro Engineer (http://www.ptc.com)

Well, for PPC Linux you have some very good choices. By far, the easiest and most popular is Yellow Dog. Next up would probably be Ubuntu, which is my preference. You can also get Debian and Crux PPC. Now if you really want a challenge, there is Gentoo PPC.

Unfortuneately I don't think Pro Engineer will run on PPC Linux. The binary is compiled for Intel processors. You'd better double check with them for further clarification.
