Holy crap Shockwave works in Linux!

Post by Patrick » Mon Aug 14, 2006 7:11 pm

I was on the pbskids.org website with my son and we went to one of the shockwave games and lo and behold the shockware installer started up. I restarted firefox and most of the shockwave portions of the site work. I then went to the shockwave game website and played a bunch of games. All I have to say is it's about time!!!

Hey Pat, you have a link to download it by any chance? I didn't see anything about Linux on the Adobe page.

You know I didn't see any mention of this anywhere. I was just on the pbskids.org site playing some games with my son and the installer started up by itself. I'm running Firefox 1.5.0.6 on Suse 10.1 on my workstation. I just played a bunch of games on shockwave.com:
skypatrol
helipatrol
streaker

Some of the games crash but most run ok.

I think there is a subset of shockwave apps that do not run properly in anything but Windows. One of the other problems I have noticed in the past is that some sites use some funky javascript browser/flash detection that only allows the media to be played in internet explorer on Windows.
