"Novell had a memorable day Aug. 17 at the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in San Francisco. Its SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED) 10 was a double award winner, being named both "Best of Show" and "Best Desktop Solution," and its AppArmor product earned "Best Security Solution" honors.

These awards follow the "Best of Show" award won by the Novell-sponsored openSUSE project at April's Boston LinuxWorld. "

I'm not that surprised about this, Novell makes a damn fine distro these days, no wonder they win a few awards here and there, but too bad they couldn't get Lenovo to preload it, oh well, like I'm used to friends letting me down, the Linux community is used to vendors letting it down every 1½ - 2 years.

Awesome. Reading this makes me look forward to tomorrow's LUG meeting even more. Novell representative(s) will be there giving a SLED presentation.

Nice, you could also go to http://download.novell.com and download SLED 10, you'll get updates for 60 days at no cost, and then you'll need to pay 50 bucks for a one year support contract, but the system will of course continue to work great.

I actually already have it downloaded, I just need to get a chance to install it and check it out.

If you register during the installation it'll automatically add the ATi and NVIDIA driver repositories so that you easily can enable XGL.
