Today is also Fedora Core 6 day!
I read Phoronix's review, and it looks pretty damn sweet. Of course I'm gonna have to throw the ugly-ass BlueCurve theme in the trash, but once that's done, boy is this gonna be awesome.

Just kidding. Yes, and Ubuntu is coming out any day as well. Lots of new releases. Life is good.

Oh yeah, openSUSE 10.1 Beta1 is out on Thursday, should be interesting to see the extensive translation work a friend of mine has been doing, along with the new KDE updater, plus lots of new cool stuff.

Yup. Day after tommorow, the 26th is the sheduled release date for 6.10. I'm looking forward to that one.

Man, the new Firefox feels noticeably faster. The new spell checking feature is a very welcome addition. I've been missing that ever since I started using Firefox and Gnome, since Konqueror has had that feature for a long time.
I'll probably wait a while to upgrade to Edgy, though AIGLX will probably send out its Siren call and lure me to Edgy so that I might destabilize my box for the sweet, sugary taste of compiz eye candy.

Why exaclty do you need spell checking in a browser? Will it automatically send CNN.com an E-mail telling them there's a misspelling on their page?

It's handy when posting on blogs or bulletin boards that don't have spell checking built into them. It merely underlines words red that it thinks are spelled incorrectly. You can disable it if you don't want it.

Ah... OK
Why not just cut and paste the text into Microsoft Word(tm) and use its spell checking? Works for me!

Were you trying to be humorous when you misspelled

It's just a matter of laziness. Most people are lazy, and I have a friend who's a horrible speller, and will not check his spelling before he posts to our forum. It's not a big deal, but it just might help him, and if you use something like drupal or joomla for your website, then it's also a nice safety net.
It saves me an extra step while I'm working, and I always appreciate that.

I tried FF 2.0 and well I am sorry to say that there are some querky stuff at least on my box. When I try to load a URL that I typed before, it wont be able to load on the address bar.
My bookmark where not transfered from 1.5 either so I guess my whole profile was not imported either.
Finally I have some issues with the tabs, the new tabs are not going to the right tab number. It just stick to the first one.
This are show stoppers for me as I struggle to search for a FF 1.5 installer.

Why don't you just go back to running IE then, ya scurvy bastard? Copy into Word, wtf?
I find it really handy, though; especially when replying to forum posts, doing web mail or writing to my blog. The only gripe I have noticed with it so far is that it does not seem to work with Google Notepad.
To me it's something that did not seem like it would impress me, but now that I have started using it, it's a must have!

That's a shame. It's working for me on my ubuntu box and a couple of OS X machines, too. I do think that backing up the profile, sans cache, should be a part of every major Firefox release if it isn't already. I haven't noticed the installer backing it up, so I'm assuming it doesn't. I read a few comments on the CNET review that said a few others lost their bookmarks, too.
I'm sure they'll have some bugs to work out, but it's been faster for me, and stable, as well.
