<a href="http://www.theora.org">Theora</a> looks like it is going to be a really cool codec! It's billed as doing for video what vorbis is doing for audio!

The Theora codec is encapsulated in an ogg file by default, but can be streamed as rtp. The library, while in alpha, is pretty stable. I'm currently converting a Narutu avi to theora with ffmpeg2theora and the quality is looking pretty good!

I used helix for playback. My mplayer I don't think has theora support yet as there was no video, but audio.

What kind of bandwidth does a theora stream use ?
The small tllts_tv.ogg file is great, what kind of camera did you use
to generate the avi file before transformation to theora ?

I'm not sure about bandwidth requirements for streaming, have to look into it.

I used a Canon ZR70MC to record the video and then kino to pull it into Linux. I exported from kino to dv and then ffmpeg2theora to encode the video.
