Trixbox 2.0 login

Post by mxc » Tue Jan 23, 2007 3:55 pm

Hi there,

I heard your discussion around the trixbox login on your last podcast. My understanding is there are two logins needed now.

1) The usualy maint/password for the admin section and,
2) then your forum username/password for the user section.

What bothers me about this is that trixbox front-end almost "calls home" when you login. I haven't had time to get more familiar with this yet but I am concerned about having to go out over the internet every time you login to the user section. I could be speaking under correction and maybe there is a way round this but my first impression with this move is not good.

Does anyone have any info on this? Is it necessary?

This is something I've been meaning to get back too. I have not fully checked it out and only found this out after searching around their forums. It seems like a very bad idea to have a login to a system hosted elsewhere the same as your login to the developers forum. I guess this means anyone subscribed to the board could log into my user interface if they could get to it.

Thats a good point. I think its just fonality's way of gathering statistics. One could look through the code and see what else it is sending through to their servers but I a warning from Fonality would have been nice
