I read the short blurb on this in the last linux journal, and looked at the website - I'm certainly interested!

That does look interesting. I already contacted them a few days back about a possible interview on the show. i haven't heard back from them yet.

Thanks for the “heads up” on that one, Snarkout. Looks like I don't have to even worry about the iPhone working on linux if I get a chance to buy that one.

I'm still trying to figure out WTF it is. There seems to be precious little *actual* info on it, but if it runs *real* linux (not nokia's idea of linux) it could be very promising. There are so many small "linux" devices out there, but nearly all of them are disappointing in some way or another. Frankly, I don't care if there's "linux inside" if it isn't accessable.

Your link did say it was written in C and they were already working on bindings to Python and Ruby. You're right, though, there's not much information on it yet. In the presentation, though, they say something promising on page 11:
Oh and well, one more feature.
An adaptation of my favorite command in all of computing.

Code: Select all

root@filbuntu:~# apt-get install []
I do like the sound of that.

For anyone else interested, on the openmoko site there's a presentation pdf:

Yep, I've been watching this project for awhile now. Check out the planet for good info:

A detailed roadmap was released just a few days ago:
