Question about HyperThreading

Post by Wally Balljacker » Thu Feb 08, 2007 5:17 pm

Ok, so here's the deal. I have an old Pentium 4 Willamette processor circa late 2001. In /proc/cpuinfo it says it supports HyperThreading, but when I boot up an SMP kernel with HyperThreading support, it says that it's disabled during boot up. Now, I have never updated the BIOS on this machine, so the BIOS is over 5 years old. Does the BIOS have anything to do with HyperThreading? Could an update to the BIOS be required to enable it?
